Our second GBM of the year is tomorrow, October 24th at 7pm in Jacobs Hall (Engineering Building I) 2512 (Booker Room)
We have a packed agenda with a lot of exciting things planned, including:
- Half off national SWE membership for the first 15 girls to sign up, this means you only pay 10$! National membership makes you eligible for a variety of scholarships, job/internship opportunities, and looks great on your resume. More info at this link: HERE

Last Year's Press Release:
Fifty local high school females attended the first annual ENVISION Conference at UCSD on Saturday,
January 9, 2010. The conference activities focused on unveiling the world of opportunity offered in
engineering and computer science careers by including a cohesive blend of laboratory tours, a hands-
on design project, and positive mentorship. Participants built solar-powered, crawling, microbug
robots using a soldering iron and coded their own website using HyperText Markup Language (HTML).
Key note speakers, UCSD Astrophysics Professor Adam Burgasser and Microsoft Developer Evangelist Lynn Langit, highlighted the work of leading females in scientific research. Tours permitted conference participants to witness cutting edge technical work in biosensors, cardiac regenerative medicine, and coordinated robotics currently in progress at one of the nation's leading research universities.
Sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Boeing, and UCSD Associated Students, ENVISION endeavors to expose high school females to engineering and computer science careers. Free to participants, ENVISION is a brand-new outreach program that was developed in 2009 by Rebecca Kasl, a UCSD biomedical engineering junior and 2007 Poway High graduate, while serving as the SWE Outreach Officer. Kasl refers to her passion for engineering, science and community services as her driving force, "to put simply, I absolutely love what I study and want to do everything that I can to empower these bright, young women." Less than 20% of the undergraduate students in the engineering are women.

Envision seeks to unveil to local high school girls the world of opportunity offered by engineering and CS. The curriculum exhibits a cohesive blend of laboratory tours, design projects, computer programming, and mentorship by current UCSD engineering and CS undergraduates.
